An elderly couple were found dead inside their midtown home this afternoon with “obvious signs of trauma” in what investigators are calling a double homicide, said a police official.

At about 4:15 p.m., a family member called police to the home in the 4600 block of East North Street near the intersection of East Grant and North Swan roads.

“The officers were advised that the residents were inside of the house, and both of them appeared to be seriously injured,” Sgt. Maria Hawke, spokeswoman for the Tucson Police Department, said in a news release.

The couple, both in their mid-80s, also were “suffering from obvious signs of trauma,” Hawke said.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

Anyone with information about the deaths should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
