A former snowboard instructor was sentenced to seven years in prison for having sex with a 13-year- old girl.

Pima County Superior Court Judge Richard Nichols sentenced Alexander Peth on Monday after Peth entered a guilty plea to two counts of sexual conduct with a minor.

Peth, 23, met the girl and her family in February while working as a snowboard instructor at Sunrise Ski Resort in the White Mountains. The family hired him to teach their daughter to snowboard. Peth and the girl continued their relationship in Tucson, where they both live. The girl’s parents found out and notified police.

After his release from prison, Peth will serve 10 years of probation.
