A fire early Tuesday morning displaced a family and destroyed their mobile home.

At about 1:20 a.m., crews were called to a home in the 3200 block of east Milton Road near South Country Club and East Drexel roads. They found heavy flames and smoke coming from the back bedroom of a singlewide mobile home, Capt. Grant Cesarek, spokesman for Rural/Metro Fire Department, said in a news release.

It took about 25 minutes to extinguish the blaze, Cesarek said.

The family escaped the burning home, but their pets died in the fire, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at $30,000.
