A small fire was intentionally set in the basement of Tucson High Magnet School Tuesday afternoon.

Crews responded around 1 p.m. to the school at 400 N. Second Ave. near East Sixth Street and North Euclid Avenue, and found a small fire fueled by wood and paper, said Capt. Barrett Baker, spokesman for the Tucson Fire Department.

School staffers had already evacuated the building.

It took firefighters about nine minutes to extinguish the blaze, Baker said. No further information was available.
