Tucson firefighters are battling a blaze on the west side and drivers should avoid the area.

Multiple vehicles, a carport and a home are burning and firefighters have pulled back to a “defensive operation because there are lots of flames from the roof,” Capt. Barrett Baker, spokesman for the Tucson Fire Department, said.

The fire is in the 1400 block of North Hualpai Road near the El Rio Golf Course north of West Speedway.

Early reports stated no one was in the home when the blaze broke out, Bakers said.
