Parents who want give their teens a little more training behind the wheel can register for a free hands-on driving skills program this weekend.

Driving Skills for Life is a program from the Ford Motor Company. Four half-day training sessions — from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday — at the Tucson Police Training Facility, 10001 S. Wilmot Road. Tucson Police Department driving instructors will assist with the training.

Teens will get to drive specially equipped vehicles and learn how to improve their skills in four key areas: hazard recognition, vehicle handling, space management and speed management. Distracted driving will also be covered.

The program is for teens who are newly licensed drivers or who have a valid learners permitParents are invited to attend the program.
