A 2-year-old girl drowned at a community pool in Florence Tuesday night.
The child, Lillian Serrano, was with her mother, Stacie Rubianes, 20, and other adults and children at the Magma Ranch Community Pool at 10980 E. Desert Mountain Blvd. in Florence at around 8 p.m., Tim Gaffney, spokesman for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, said in a news release.
Rubianes “didn’t see Lillian wander away,” Gaffney said. “The child was found near the steps of the pool, floating, by an individual who was at the pool with his family.”
People at the pool immediately started CPR and she was flown via medical helicopter to a local hospital, but she was pronounced dead about 90 minutes later, Gaffney said.
Detectives are investigating the drowning.
