A 5-year-old girl struck by a vehicle in the foothills Saturday evening has died.

The girl was pronounced dead at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at a trauma center, Chief Deputy Chris Nanos of the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

The girl and her 7-year-old brother were crossing East Orange Grove Road near east Skyline Drive when she was hit by a vehicle around 6:40 p.m. The children were not with any adults.

Detectives do not believe alcohol is a factor in the crash and no charges have been filed against the driver.

The department is not releasing the girl's name.

The investigation is ongoing.
