The owner of a Green Valley assisted-living home was arrested last week as the result of a vulnerable-adult-abuse investigation.

A year ago, after the death of a patient at Saguaro Acres Assisted Living, 18002 S. Placita Octubrein, in Green Valley, a relative noticed “suspicious activity related to the patient’s finances” and filed a police report, Officer Philip Steele, spokesman for the Sahuarita Police Department, said in a news release.

The woman discovered someone had opened a bank account in her relative’s name and charged $2,500 to the account.

A review of bank statements, receipts and other financial records led to the arrest Thursday of Timothy P. McKenna, 55, owner of Saguaro Acres, Steele said.

Arizona Adult Protective Services and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office took part in the investigation.

Detectives are trying to determine if there are other victims, Steele said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sahuarita Police Department at (520) 344-7000, or 911 or 88-CRIME.

Saguaro Acres, a long-term adult care home, is licensed to care for up to 10 patients, according to its website.
