A Hereford was arrested on Thursday and charged with multiple counts of sexual conduct with a minor.

Detectives from the Sierra Vista Police Department began their investigation earlier this month after receiving information that alleged to inappropriate relations between the 24-year-old Jeremy James Belden and a teen girl.

The SVPD would not reveal the exact age of the girl, just that she was 16 or 17 years old.

Balden met the girl in an Internet chatroom and “the two discussed having sex,” according to an SVPD news release. “The pair later met to carry out their plans.

“Evidence indicates that Belden knew the (teen) was underage but still met her for a sexual encounter, and continued to solicit sex from her.”

Belden was charged with five counts of sexual conduct with a minor; and one count each of luring a minor for sexual exploitation, aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation and conspiracy to commit sexual exploration of a minor.

He was booked into the Cochise County jail on $50,000 bond.
