Six people were injured when a woman drove into a Sierra Vista office building early Friday morning.

The 67-year-old woman told deputies she was parking her 2012 Toyota Camry when “the vehicle accelerated for an unknown reason before hitting the building,” Carol Capas, spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, said in a news release.

The crash occurred just before 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot of an office building at 1150 S. Highway 92 near East Foothills Drive in Sierra Vista.

The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Capas said.

“Four people were inside of the office at the time of this incident and received cuts and abrasions with one opting to transport himself to the hospital for knee pain,” Capas said. “Another occupant of the building also received possible head injuries and was taken to the Sierra Vista Regional Health Care Center for treatment.”

The incident is under investigation and no citations have been issued, Capas said. The extent of the damage to the building has yet to be determined.
