Man dies 3 weeks
after being shot
The victim of a May shooting died Friday and additional charges are pending against the man accused of gunning him down.
Raul Castro Jr., 41, died Friday as a result of injuries he suffered in the May 16 shooting, Sgt. Pete Dugan, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said in a news release.
Officers found Castro Jr. just before 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Famous Sam’s restaurant and bar at 2320 N. Silverbell Road, near West Grant Road.
The suspect in the shooting, 51-year old Mark Walck, had fled the bar, but detectives tracked him down hours later and booked him into the Pima County jail on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Dugan said.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
Body off N. Trico Road still not identified
A woman whose body was found Friday in desert on the northwest side has yet to be identified. Hers was the second body found that day in desert areas around Tucson.
A person driving along North Trico Road about half a mile south of West Avra Valley Road saw the unidentified body and called 911 early Friday afternoon.
The body was partially decomposed and deputies were unable to determine the woman’s ethnicity or identity, according to a news release from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
It was the second death detectives investigated Friday. Hours before, the body of Irma Francisco, 49, was found southwest of Tucson, near South Camino de Oeste and West Tetakusim Road.
Anyone with information about either death should call 911 or 88-CRIME.
