SV cops arrest 5,
seize 2 tons of pot

A traffic stop in Sierra Vista Friday led to the arrest of five people — including a Tucson man — and the seizure of almost 2 tons of marijuana.

Sierra Vista police officers working on a tip from federal agents seized 1,200 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop of a truck. That bust led them to a stash house in Whetstone, where an additional 2,600 pounds of pot was hidden, said a Police Department news release.

Five suspects were arrested and booked into the Cochise County Jail on multiple drug-related charges: Heinz Michael Scriba of Sierra Vista, 55; Gadhi Kadmiel Corella, 22, of Tucson; Francisco Raymundo Lara Delgado, 35, and Omar Alejandro Galindo-Islava, 24, both illegal immigrants from Mexico; and Marcos Jesus Gomez-Gallegos, 31, of Mexico.
