Man arrested in Sun Van shooting

A man was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of shooting at a Sun Van driver that afternoon.

Lawrence Ortiz, 27, was booked into the Pima County jail and faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, prohibited possessor of a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm, said Deputy Jesus Bañuelos, Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokesman. Bañuelos gave the following account:

The driver of a Sun Van, a bus service for people with disabilities, was returning to the facility parking lot at 3401 E. Ajo Way.

As he pulled in, a truck stopped on the road behind him. An armed subject got out and fired multiple shots, then got back in and drove away, The driver was alone in the bus and was not injured.

Deputies said they later found the truck in the 3000 block of South Tower Way.
