An 81-year-old Tucson man died Wednesday of injuries sustained in a weekend car wreck.

Frank Galpin was involved in a collision Saturday and died five days later at a local hospital, Sgt. Chris Widmer, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said in a news release.

At about 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Galpin was driving a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV westbound on Golf Links in the left turn lane, preparing to turn southbound on Camino Seco. The light turned yellow and Galpin turned left in front of a 1979 Chevrolet pickup truck, which was eastbound on Golf Links in the center lane, Widmer said. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

Galpin was taken to the hospital with what was believed at the time to be non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the truck was uninjured, Widmer said.
