Man fatally shot in South Tucson

A 42-year-old man was fatally shot in South Tucson late Tuesday night. 

The shooting happened shortly after 11 p.m. near South Sixth Avenue and East 40th Street, shortly before midnight, Lt. Jeff Inorio, a South Tucson Police Department spokesman said in a news release. 

Officers responding to a shots fired call found the man lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the head, the release said. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Witnesses said an altercation happened between two men before the shooting. 

The victim's name has not been released pending next of kin notification. 

A cash reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of  the suspect.
