A man was fatally shot in a Food City parking lot on Tucson's south side Saturday night.

The shooting happened shortly before 10 p.m. in the parking lot of the store at 2000 East Irvington Road, Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson police spokesman said in a news release.

Officers responding to a shots fired call found the man with "obvious signs of gunshot trauma," and gave him first aid until the Tucson Fire Department arrived, the release said.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Many people were in the parking lot when the shooting happened and detectives are looking for a grey or silver Dodge Magnum that was seen leaving the area shortly after the shooting.

"It is unknown if that vehicle is involved, but detectives are considering it as a vehicle of interest at this point," the release said.

The name of the victim is being withheld until police notify next of kin.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME (882-7463).
