Oro Valley police have identified the man killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening.

Karl Mason, 48, was driving a Volkswagen sedan south on La Cholla Boulevard that was struck by a Chevrolet truck that ran a red light and was traveling west on Lambert Lane, Lt. Kara Riley, an Oro Valley police spokeswoman said in a news release.

Mason was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the sedan had life-threatening injuries and was flown to the University of Arizona Medical Center.

The investigation is on-going. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
