Marana residents who want to learn more about the men and women behind the badge will have their chance at a three-month Citizen’s Police Academy.

The Marana Police Department program will give students a greater understanding and awareness of the role of the Marana police officers within the community,” Sgt. Jose Alvarez, spokesman for the Marana P.D., said in a news release.

The Citizens Police Academy will meet Wednesday evenings from Aug. 14 through Oct. 30. Advance registration is required for the academy, which is open to adults only. The application deadline is 5 p.m., Aug. 2.
