Two officers on patrol Friday night sniffed out a marijuana grow house in midtown.

Just before 8 p.m. “smelled a strong odor of fresh marijuana,” Sgt. Pete Dugan, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said in a Facebook post.

The officers traced the smell to a house in the 2600 block of North Forgeus Ave. near the intersection of North Tucson Boulevard and East Grant Road.

The officers obtained a search warrant and SWAT personnel were called in to assist.

Two men at the house were arrested.

Inside, officers found “an elaborate grow operation,” Dugan said. “Over 150 marijuana plants in various stages of development were seized from the residence, as well as multiple weapons and ammunition.”

No further information was available Saturday.
