A 20-year-old man crashed his motorcycle into a tree Friday and suffered critical, life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. at West Grier Road and North Galleno Avenue in Marana east of Interstate 10, said Capt. Adam Goldberg of the Northwest Fire District.

Paramedics treated the man before he was airlifted by helicopter to University of Arizona Medical Center, Goldberg said.

The crash happened after the man, who was wearing a helmet, lost control of his motorcycle, said Goldberg. He said another motorcyclist called 911 and reported the crash.

Marana Police Department officers were at the scene late last night investigating the crash.
