A motorcyclist deliberately drove over a cliff on Mount Lemmon Saturday and died, a sheriff’s official said.

At about 11:30 a.m., the man left the road at Seven Cataracts Vista at milepost 9.1, and drove into the gorge, said Deputy Tracy Suitt. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are still investigating the incident, but have classified the it as a suicide, Suitt said.

He had no further information about the incident.
