A Tucson woman and Mexican national were arrested Tuesday and face charges of trying to smuggle methamphetamine and marijuana through the Nogales Port of Entry.

Customs and Border Patrol agents sent a Ford truck driven by a 50-year-old man from Hermosillo, Sonora, to a secondary inspection at the Dennis DeConcini crossing. There, officers found nearly 39 pounds of meth worth an estimated $117,000 in the side walls of the truck's bed, according to a press release from CBP.

In the other incident, officers at the Mariposa crossing sent a 32-year-old Tucson woman driving a Nissan sedan for further inspection. A CBP dog alerted to the presence of drug and officers found 20 packages of marijuana weighing nearly 139 pounds worth about $70,000.

The drugs and vehicles were seized. The two people were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
