A brush fire destroyed a house and several sheds in the community of Oracle on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

The fire spread to about 20 acres before it was contained, officials said. Officials evacuated several homes in the area as six agencies were called in to battle the brush fire.

The brush fire began between North Cody Loop Road and North John Adams Street and quickly spread because of the wind, said Battalion Chief William Seeley of the Golder Ranch Fire District.

The two-story house was destroyed, he said. No injuries have been reported.

About 40 firefighters fought the brush fire.

In addition to Golder Ranch, crews from the Northwest Fire District, Oracle Fire Department, Picture Rocks Fire, Avra Valley Fire and state land crews fought the blaze.
