An Oracle woman suspected of fatally shooting her friend was arrested on suspicion of negligent homicide Saturday.
Leanor Guitard, 55, called 911 around 8:20 p.m. and said she shot someone because she was being stabbed, Tim Gaffney, a spokesman for the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, said in an news release.
When deputies arrived at the home in the 800 block of Evergreen Road, they knocked on the front door but nobody answered, the release said.
Deputies opened the door and searched the home and found Guitard leaning over the victim, who was lying on her back, in the dining room, the release said.
Guitard told deputies the victim broke into her home and beat her up, the release said.
"Guitard did not have any signs of physical injuries nor were any knives located around the victim," the release said.
She was taken to a substation and interviewed by homicide detectives, but declined to answer questions.
"According to investigators, Leonar Guitard was so intoxicated she was difficult to understand and had to be assisted when she walked," Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said in the release. "Guitard is the only person who now knows why she shot her friend. She gave investigators conflicting information as far as what occurred."
Guitard was booked into the Pinal County Jail.
