An Oro Valley teenager was arrested Thursday after threatening a family member.

The 16-year-old had been in an argument with a family member and threw a rock through the widow of a home in the 10000 block of North Black Canyon Court near the intersection of North La Cholla Boulevard and West Lambert Lane.

The woman in the home called 911 at about 2:30 p.m., thinking the loud noise and broken window were the result of a gunshot, said Lt. Kara Riley, spokeswoman for the Oro Valley Police Department. It was later determined that there was no firearm involved.

The woman was uninjured.

The teen fled the house before police arrived. Officers made contact with him via cell phone and learned he was in the desert near a golf course just south of the home.

He was arrested and faces charges of domestic violence/criminal damage and domestic violence/disorderly conduct, Riley said.
