A woman was fatally struck by a car while walking in the road on Tucson's southwest side late Saturday night.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. on South Camino de Oeste near West Corona Road, north of Los Reales Road, Deputy Courtney Rodriguez, a Pima County Sheriff's spokeswoman said in a news release.

Investigators determined the pedestrian, 33-year-old Lea Molina was walking inside the southbound vehicle lane when she was struck by a sedan, the release said.

Molina was taken to the hospital for treatment.

"At the hospital it was discovered that Ms. Molina was intoxicated," the release said.

She died Sunday morning.

Deputies also determined the driver of the sedan, 66-year-old Guadalupe Villalobos was impaired, the release said.

Villalobos was cited and released on suspicion of driving under the influence.

She could face additional charges, the release said.
