A woman crossing a street in downtown Tucson was struck by a car and killed Sunday night.

The woman was crossing West 22nd Street near Osborne Avenue, near Interstate 10, around 9:30 p.m. when she was hit by a Chevy Impala traveling eastbound in the curb lane, Sgt. Maria Hawke, a Tucson police spokeswoman said in a news release.

The woman was not in a crosswalk, the release said.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Police do not believe the driver was speeding or that drugs or alcohol are factors in the crash.
