Homicide detectives with the Pima County Sheriff's Department are asking the public for help in identifying a woman found dead Friday in the desert in Avra Valley.

On June 6, deputies responded to a suspicious activity call on North Trico Road, about a half mile south of West Avra Valley Road at 12:40 p.m., said Chief Deputy Chris Nanos of the sheriff's department.

Deputies were directed to the decomposing body, which was on the east side of the road.

Nanos said the victim was described as possibly a white woman who was 5 feet tall and weighed about 100 pounds.

She had brown hair and a tattoo under her left collar bone described as "butterfly in flight" and also had a necklace with an anchor pendant and clear stones, said Nanos.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
