A Pinal County man was arrested last week, suspected of molesting two Tucson girls.

Manuel H. Martinez, 65, of Arizona City, was arrested May 15, and faces charges of child sexual abuse, Sgt. Pat Ramirez, spokesman for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, said in news release Wednesday.

Martinez is suspected of molesting two Tucson girls who are now 13 and 15 years old.

In late February the parents of the two girls learned that a family acquaintance had accused Martinez of molesting her daughter in the U.S. and Mexico.

“The parents discussed these allegations with their two children and both children reported being molested by Martinez,” Ramirez said. “They reported the alleged crimes started when they were very young and also occurred when one was 10 years old and one was 12 years old.

The parents “confronted Martinez concerning the allegations and he admitted to molesting the victims,” Ramirez said

In February, the parents made a report to the Tucson Police Department. In March, the allegations were reported to the Pinal sheriff’s office and an investigation was launched.

Martinez was booked into the Pinal County jail and faces one count of child molestation and three counts of sexual abuse. He faces similar allegations in Tucson and additional charges may be filed in Pima County, Ramirez said.
