Federal authorities find packages of marijuana throughout this SUV, including under the hood, at the Douglas port of entry on Thursday.

An Agua Prieta, Sonora man was taken into custody Thursday at the Douglas port of entry after packages of marijuana were found under the hood of his SUV.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers inspected the vehicle after a drug-sniffing dog alerted to the vehicle, authorities said.

Officers found 143 packages of marijuana, weighing more than 245 pounds, stashed throughout the SUV, which was driven by a 36-year-old man, said authorities.

An estimated value of the marijuana was $123,000.

The man was arrested and turned over to federal authorities.

The marijuana and vehicle were seized.
