A man was arrested Tuesday night in connection with a fatal shooting in Sierra Vista that occurred earlier in the day.

James Jenkins, 25, was taken into custody shortly before 7 p.m. in an alley near North Sixth Street and East Fry Boulevard, according to a news release from the Sierra Vista Police Department.

Jenkins was being questioned by detectives.

At 3:18 p.m., officers responded to a shots fired call and found a man dead in the 300 block of North Fourth Street, said police.

No further information was released about the shooting or the victim. The name of the victim is being withheld until his family is notified, police said.
