An 18-month-old boy nearly drowned Saturday night in an above ground pool while his parents were unloading groceries from a car, officials said.

The toddler was out of sight for about two minutes before he was found in the pool in the front yard of the home in the 6900 block of South Missiondale Road, near South Sixth Avenue and East Valencia Road, Capt. Barrett Baker, a Tucson fire spokesman said in a news release.

An adult pulled the child from the pool.

Crews from Tucson fire arrived at the home around 9:20 p.m. and found that the child had a pulse, so they did not need to perform CPR, the release said.

Paramedics evaluated the child and took him to the hospital within a few minutes of arriving at the home.
