A 71-year-old bicyclist killed Saturday night after colliding with an SUV on the east side has been identified, Tucson police said.

Thomas Ferrer was riding his bicycle southbound across East Golf Links Road at the intersection of South Calle Yucatan when he rode into the path of a 2000 Ford SUV traveling westbound on East Golf Links road, Sgt. Maria Hawke, a Tucson police spokeswoman said in a news release.

The cyclist was not wearing a helmet, and was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the SUV was not injured, the release said.
