An arrest has been made in a motorcycle crash last week that left one man dead.
Sherman Kidd Jr., 59, was arrested at his home Thursday after being released from a hospital. He was booked into the Pima County jail and faces one count of manslaughter in connection to the Sept. 7 crash that killed Michael Bell, 53, Deputy Jesus Bañuelos, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said in a news release.
At about 4:45 p.m. Sept. 7, Bell and a friend were riding motorcycles on Bopp Road west of Kinney Road when Kidd rode up behind the pair and struck Bell, causing him to lose control, according to a previous Sheriff’s Department statement.
Kidd reportedly had been speeding and passing cars in a no-passing zone before the crash.
Bell and Kidd were taken to a hospital, where Bell was pronounced dead. Kidd had serious injuries. Neither man was wearing a helmet.
The third motorcyclist, who was riding with Bell, was uninjured and left the scene after his friend was struck, according to officials.
