A man was assaulted June 29 near a northwest side convenience store by two men who reportedly had just stolen beer from the store.

Pima County Sheriff's deputies responded shortly after 1 a.m. to North La Cholla Boulevard and West Ruthrauff Road to a report of an aggravated assault, said Chief Deputy Chris Nanos.

When deputies arrived, they found out that the 25-year old victim, and his father, age 48, were accosted by two men.

The confrontation escalated and the younger man was hit in the head with a solid object, Nanos said. He suffered minor injuries.

The two assailants were last seen running into a nearby neighborhood.

Both assailants were captured on a surveillance camera at the Circle K at La Cholla and Ruthrauff prior to the assault. One man was described as African American, tall with a slender build. He was wearing a light-colored tank top and dark shorts.

The other was described as Hispanic, in his mid-20s, and was wearing a light-colored shirt, jeans and a ball cap.
