A 20-year-old man, suspected of killing his father, was arrested Wednesday night.

Jared Patrick faces a charge of second-degree murder in the death of his father, Justin Patrick, 47.

At about 8:30 p.m. deputies were called to a home in the 16500 block of West Moore Road west of Interstate 10, in reference to a domestic violence incident, Deputy Courtney Rodriguez, spokeswoman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said in a news release.

“Justin and Jared were found fighting by family members outside of the residence,” Rodriguez said. “The family was able to separate the two but Justin quickly succumbed to his injuries.”

Justin Patrick was found lying on the ground in front of the home. He was not breathing. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Jared Patrick was apprehended as he was walking away from the home, Rodriguez said.

No further information was available this morning.
