Tucson police were investigating a possible carjacking at a southside Costco that led to a crash Monday night.

The incident began at 7:29 p.m. at the Costco at 1650 E. Tucson Marketplace Blvd., said Sgt. Ben Frie.

A man was detained by police on South Park Avenue, north of East 22nd Street, Frie said.

After the vehicle theft, the suspect crashed into a van on South Park near East 32nd Street, said Frie.

The preliminary investigation was ongoing, and no further details were immediately available.
