A 58-year-old Tucson woman was arrested overnight in the shooting death of her husband.

Susan Thacker called 911 just after 9 Monday night to report she shot her husband, Gregory Thacker, 58, Sgt. Maria Hawke, spokeswoman for the Tucson Police Department, said in a news release.

“The couple engaged in a verbal argument, which escalated to a lengthy confrontation, lasting a few hours,” prior to the shooting, Hawke said.

When officers arrived at the home in the 10500 block of East Bridgeport Street near East Bilby and South Houghton roads on the far east side, Susan Thacker was waiting outside for them and told the officers her husband was dead inside the house, Hawke said.

Thacker was booked into the Pima County jail and is facing one count of second degree murder.
