A 23-year-old woman was found slain overnight in her south side home and her roommate was arrested in connection with her death.

Deputies were dispatched at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday to a home in the 4500 block of East Benson Highway near East Valencia Road in reference to a drug overdose, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department official said in a news release.

They found Veronica Anderson dead, but the “evidence was inconsistent with a drug overdose,” according to the news release.

Homicide detectives are investigating the death and Anderson’s roommate, 22-year-old Keenan Gallagher, has been arrested.

Gallagher was booked into the Pima County jail and faces a charge of second-degree murder.
