A blaze dubbed the “Bisbee Fire” near the namesake town has been contained a Cochise County official said.

The fire was reported late Thursday on the west side of Highway 80 two miles west of the Mule Pass Tunnel near the town of Bisbee, said Carol Capas, spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

Crews from Bisbee, Naco, Elfrida and Tombstone fire departments were battling the blaze that covered more than 11 acres.

As of 9 this morning, the fire was 100 percent contained, Capas said. Three hand crews, five engines and a water tender remain on scene mopping up.
