A drunk driver hit a patrol car early Saturday morning and fled the scene of the crash, a police official said.

Officers eventually caught up with 38-year-old Katrine Cesario and booked her into the Pima County jail where she faces felony charges related to driving under the influence, criminal damage and endangerment, Sgt. Chris Widmer, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said in a news release.

Just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday several officers were at the scene of a minor traffic collision near the intersection of South Harrison and East Millmar roads north of Irvington Road.

One of the vehicles involved in the crash was blocking northbound traffic and an officer pulled a patrol car near the south side of the collision and activated the emergency lights to warn northbound traffic on Harrison of the hazard, Widmer said.

The patrol car was unoccupied when an SUV driven by Cesario hit it from behind. She then fled the scene, Widmer said. Officers caught up to Cesario at Golf Links and Harrison.

“Cesario, showed signs and symptoms of intoxication,” Widmer said.
