A woman was found dead Sunday morning in an apartment on Tucson's north side.

Around 10:20 a.m. a neighbor called 911 after finding the woman inside her apartment unconscious with obvious signs of trauma in the 3000 block of North Geronimo Avenue, near North First Avenue and East Fort Lowell Road, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson police spokesman.

A small child was also found inside the home and was unharmed, he said.

Dugan did not know the relationship between the woman and the child.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released the name of the woman pending next of kin notification.
