Firefighters are on the scene of a swift-water rescue on the east side after a woman became trapped in her car.

The woman was trapped in a Dodge Stratus just after 12:30 p.m. in the 8400 block of East Appomattox Street near the intersection of North Camino Seco and East Broadway, said Capt. Barrett Baker, spokesman for the Tucson Fire Department.

The water rushing by has reached the top of the doors. Firefighters are trying to extend a ladder to the roof of the car “and they’re going to pluck her right off,” Baker said.
