A woman with heroin duct taped to her body was arrested at the Nogales border Tuesday.
The 44-year-old woman from Nogales, Arizona was stopped by officers conducting an inspection of her Ford SUV, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
“During the encounter, officers discovered the woman was concealing three packages around her midsection,” the news release stated.
The packages contained more than 4 pounds of heroin valued at about $58,000.
That same day, officers found 14 pounds of cocaine, worth an estimated $145,000, hidden between the radiator and firewall of a Dodge pickup truck driven by a 19-year-old Nogales, Arizona man.
Officers seized the vehicles and drugs, and referred both smugglers to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
