Wreckage is still on the runway, but passenger traffic is not being affected after a late morning crash at Tucson International Airport.

The twin-engine Piper aircraft crashed at about 11 a.m. shortly after takeoff, said Viki Matthews, spokeswoman for the airport.

The only occupant of the plane, the pilot, was injured and taken to the hospital by a Tucson Fire Department medic unit, said Capt. Barrett Baker, spokesman for TFD.
