CD1 Watch: Here comes the outside ad money

The Hometown Freedom Action Network spent $70,000 on TV ads last week to support Republican Adam Kwasman in the Congressional District 1 race.

The ad also opposes Kwasman's primary opponents, Andy Tobin and Gary Kiehne. This is a big boost for the Kwasman campaign, which has raised less money than the Tobin or Kiehne campaigns.

There's not a lot we can say about the Hometown Freedom Action Network. This political action committee's treasurer, David Langdon, has personally backed Ron Paul and Rand Paul, but he also is associated with several different political action committees, including Citizens for a Working America.

Some more new spending in this race comes from the National Republican Congressional Committee, which spent $20,000 last week on survey research to oppose Democratic incumbent Ann Kirkpatrick.

The Dems' House Majority PAC spent $461,000 back in April to support Kirkpatrick and oppose Tobin.

Expect more spending in this hot race. We're watching independent expenditures in this race over at the Sunlight Foundation and you can too.
