Republican Mike Polak ended his write-in campaign in Congressional District 3 on Friday with this post on Facebook:
"It was a proud day for me when I announced that I was running for Congress in CD3. Unfortunately I will need to withdraw from the race. On Thursday morning I had a minor heart attack. With that said I believe in taking care of my family and my health first. I wanted to thank everyone who supported my campaign. Remember there is 2016."
Polak announced his write-in campaign after Gabriela Saucedo Mercer was the only Republican candidate to gather enough signatures on her nominating petitions to get on the Republican primary ballot. Saucedo Mercer is alone on the August primary ticket, and she'll face incumbent Democrat Raúl Grijalva in November's general election.
