Lanes on Interstate 10 and Ruthrauff Road will be closed next week as Arizona Department of Transportation crews begin geotechnical work.

The drilling is part of the I-10 improvement project between Ina and Ruthrauff roads.

The work will occur as follows:

On Sunday (Sept. 8) the right lane on westbound I-10 from the westbound I-10 exit ramp to the westbound I-10 entrance ramp at Ruthrauff Road. The stretch of road will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

On Monday (Sept. 9) the right lane on eastbound I-10 will be closed from the eastbound I-10 exit ramp to the eastbound I-10 entrance ramp at Ruthrauff Road. The stretch of road will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

On Tuesday (Sept. 10) the left lane on eastbound I-10 at Ruthrauff Road will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

On Wednesday (Sept. 11) the right lane on the westbound I-10 exit ramp and frontage road to Ruthrauff Road will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

The purpose of the work is to conduct geotechnical field investigations for final design in anticipation of the construction of the two traffic interchanges scheduled to begin in 2016 at Ina Road and 2018 at Ruthrauff Road, respectively.

Similar work is planned for Orange Grove Road, Sunset Road, Cañada Del Oro (CDO) Wash and Rillito Creek.
