A 19-year old cyclist was killed in accident with semi-truck trailer near the Broadway Boulevard and Campbell Avenue intersection on Wednesday while a 45-year old man was killed last Sunday while attempting to cross the street near the intersection of East Grant Road and North Arcadia Avenue.

Albert Rich, 19, was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival to a local hospital after he hit the right side of the  2004 International Truck Tractor with a 2005 Great Dane Semi-Trailer just below the passenger door, according to police.

Rich was pulled beneath the tractor trailer as it completed the right turn  onto northbound Campbell Avenue.

45-year-old Eddie Sagastume died from his injuries on Wednesday after being his by 2001 Oldsmobile sedan on Friday.

According to police reports, Sagastume was crossing Grant Road northbound at the intersection of Arcadia Avenue when he was hit by the Oldsmobile traveling eastbound in the center lane of East Grant Road. 

An investigation is ongoing.

On July 3, 2013 at 5:32 p.m., officers from Operations Division Downtown responded to a report of a vehicle collision near Broadway Boulevard and Campbell Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a tractor trailer and a bicyclist that had been involved in a serious collision. The bicyclist was transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries. He was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

Detectives from the Traffic Investigation Unit responded to continue the investigation. They determined that a 2004 International Truck Tractor with a 2005 Great Dane Semi-Trailer was traveling westbound in the curb lane of East Broadway Boulevard and made a right hand turn onto northbound Campbell Avenue. The bicyclist was traveling westbound in the bike lane on Broadway Boulevard approaching Campbell Avenue. The bicyclist struck the right side of the tractor trailer just below the passenger door. The bicyclist was pulled beneath the tractor trailer as it completed the right turn.

The bicyclist was identified as 19-year old Albert Rich. Next of kin has been notified.

On June 28, 2013 at 8:11 p.m., officers from Operations Division Midtown responded to a report of vehicle collision

involving a pedestrian near the intersection of East Grant Road and North Arcadia Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a pedestrian suffering life threatening injuries. He was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. The driver of the passenger car involved was not injured.

Detectives from the Traffic Investigations Unit responded to continue the investigation. They determined that a 2001 Oldsmobile 4-door passenger car was traveling eastbound in the center lane of East Grant Road. The pedestrian was crossing Grant Road northbound at the intersection of Arcadia Avenue. The Oldsmobile struck the pedestrian. The intersection of Grant Road and Arcadia Boulevard was lit with street lamps and there was a marked crosswalk at the location.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
